Newest Family Member

Every day, I walk out onto our deck and call out "Gizmo" or "Deer ladies" and within moments, at least 1 deer arrives. They know that I, the crazy dear lady, feed them corn and apples. I am often delighted that I have these lovely creatures trained, but in reality, they have me trained, right?


Each has a name that suits them, but my favorite deer has always been Gizmo (above). She is kind of a loner; I think the others make fun of her because she has very large ears. Gizmo was the first deer to become comfortable with Tom and I. She was especially fond of Elroy (see pic below). Last year, Gizmo had 2 fawns; a boy and a girl - we named them Hansel and Gretel. (She was pregnant with them in the picture below). They come around daily for hors d'ouerves and cocktails.

This weekend, Gizmo brought her newest family member for us to meet! It cannot be more than a couple weeks old. S/he still wobbles quite a bit and was more interested in nursing with Gizmo than she was with our gourmet offerings.
