Oh, no! This can't be a good sign! LG loves phones. She loves hearing them ring. She loves the noise the buttons make when making a call. She loves to hear people talk on speaker phone.
In about 10 years, Verizon is going to be one happy company! Look out!

One of Lilly's new favorite toys...

Lilly's High Chair...
During his recent visit, Grandpa bought Lilly a new high chair. She thinks she's so cool! She sits up at the table with us, knocks her toys off of the tray and watches what we are doing at the table. She really enjoys being there; she even fights sleep sitting up! It's hilarious: She will start nodding off, like her little head will start to fall forward, then I'll go to pick her up to lay her down and NOPE! She wants to sit at the table!
Grandpa and Lilly get ready for dinner:
Is she cool, or what?

Lilly laughs...

Tom's Birthday Suprise
Hi everyone; Tom here!
I just wanted to share the birthday suprise Kris and Lilly gave me last week. Soooo, Kris was out "doing errands" last Satuday. She called me and asks me out to meet her for lunch. (This was not a suprise since it was her turn to cook and I forgot to lay something out). So she picked me up and went to one our our favorite eateries. We chatted about our upcomming trip to a conference in NY. Kris,a collegue or ours and I are presenting,so we talked about how exciting it was going to be to take Lilly to Central Park. Other than that, our conversation was nothing out of the ordinary. (I did not notice the unusual number of restaurant staff milling about out front door). As I proceeded to put Lilly in her car seat, Kris came around from the backside of the Jeep and handed me a box and said Happy Birthday! This is something to keep you dreaming!" I opened the box and inside was a new motorcycle helmet. Not being to quick on the uptake, I said "thank you" and proceeded to put on the helmet. I said "I am going to wear it home" then started getting into the front seat of the jeep. From this point on it became a bit surreal. I had this helmet on with a crowd of people standing about, then Kris hands me a set of keys. She said "I will see you at home." I just stood staring at those keys thinking to myself these are not my keys. Now, by this time I had to remove the helmet to see what I was really holding in my hand. I muttered something like "what did you do?", she smiled this beautiful smile at me and I looked around the parking lot. Over in the corner was a beautiful Black and Gray motorcycle. The restaurant manager said the expression on my face was priceless. It took at least 15 minutes to sink in as Kris, Lilly and I went over to check out my new ride. I didnt know whether to laugh at how well she suprised me, or to cry at the "dream gift" she got me.

Our Lilly Grace is 6 months!
At her 6 mo. check-up, LG weighed 15 pounds and was 25+ inches long. This puts her in the 50th percentile in her age group. Definately no more catching up.
At 6 months, Lilly:
Says "momomomom"......
"Talks" non-stop...and to everyone...
Puts everything in her mouth...
Has 6 teeth coming in (very slowly)...4 top, 2 bottom...
Loves to talk on the phone...
Sleeps from 10 PM to 6:30 AM without waking up...hurray!....
Can stand on her own (with slight assistance from the couch)...
Has no desire to crawl, she only wants to walk...
Wears a size 2 Pampers and 6-9 month clothes...
Is getting a little more "tolerant" of solids...preferring oatmeal to rice...
Is very expressive with her face...
Has 3 really long hairs on the top of her head (in addition to the short ones!)...
Drools A LOT...
Enjoys the lights at Macy's...
Has moved up to a bigger bathtub...
Is acquiring a winter wardrobe...
Passes gas often...just like her dad...
Always wakes up in a great mood...
Participated in a Duke study for baby's language development...
Has rosey cheeks with the weather change...
Has discovered that hair grows on grown-up arms....

Blogs below:
I've gotten caught up on much of my blog pictures. Again, sorry for the delays. With my parents here, I've snapped a lot of pictures and video, but have not had the chance to upload! There is one set of pictures missing; the ones of LG's new high chair. Gpa bough LG a high chair - We took the best pics of her sitting up in it while we eat dinner. She thinks she's something! BUt I can't find them all in the picture mess that is my computer hard drive! Once I get all of mom and Tom's ebay crap off of here, perhaps I can find them. Until then, enjoy what is posted. I think there are 12 new posts, so make sure that when you reach the bottom of this blogger page that you click on "older posts" to see them all.
Stay tuned for a 6 month update! (Didn't I just get the 5 month update on here?)

Sometimes mother does know best...
Every evening at about 7, LG gets a little fussy. We think it's a combination of being tired and having a sore mouth from teething. I've gotten into the routine of taking her upstairs, sitting in the rocker and humming to her. Well, I have found that there is a single tune that, when hummed, soothes her instantly.
One evening, Gma participated in this soothing ritual, but I had not told her of the magic soothing song. So she's rocking LG, singing "Twinkle, Twinkle," "Rock-a-Bye Baby" and all of the other nursery standards. LG refused to settle down. I diplomatically said, "Mom, trying humming "O Come, All Ye Faithful" -- Here is the picture of her response! She laughed so hard I couldn't even get a focused photo! I don't think that mom was laughing AT ME, but simply the fact that a Christmas Carol might do the trick when age-old songs won't!
Two seconds after mom starts humming, "Oh Come, All Ye Faithful"......LG snoozing!

Bath time with Grandma...
I couldn't quite figure out who likes bath time better...LG or Grandma? Every time I turn around, Gma was wanting to bathe LG! And they both enjoyed it equally. Gma says that she always hates seeing "sticky kids," and refuses to let LG become one! LOL! That's a running joke in our household now....STICKY KIDS! Mom told me about how her family of eight kids weren't allowed leave the car and visit the more upscale people's houses when she was growing up. Now she wonders if it was because she and her siblings were "sticky!" LOL! I doubt it though. My grandma Lillian was very clean, so I can't imagine that the Webb kids were not bathed often. It's still a funny story though.
One thing about LG is that she always has smelly feet! I guess her feet sweat in her little pajamas, because her toes are always stinky and full of lint! I'm constantly putting Q-tips between those nuggets to clean!

Touchy-Feely...
LG enjoys reaching out and experiencing textures. She has toys with all kinds: soft, crinkly, bumpy, furry, ribbons, etc. But most exciting to her is the prickly feel of her daddy's not-so-well-tended-to beard. She digs her little fingers and toes into that beard every chance she gets. On my face, unfortunately, she prefers that her fingers go directly into my nose!

Overalls
Aunt Joyce sends so many adorable clothes to LG! This set of overalls is one of my favorites. I always say that with each batch of new clothes that Joyce sends, we ought to do a fashion show. This picture of her is priceless! Thank you, Joyce!

Funnel cakes...the ultimate distraction!
So, my parents have been here for a couple of weeks now, as my dad goes to Duke for tests. Sunday Sept. 21 was a gorgeous day here in Durham. Tom, mom, Lilly and I decided to spend the day at a downtown art festival. The items for sale were neat, but what really caught my mom's attention was the FUNNEL CAKE STAND. Remember when they were here before and mom had her very first funnel cake at the Durham Bulls game? Well, once she saw the sign at the fair, there was nothing that was going to stop her from chowing down one of those fried-dough-delights. The four of us sat down, were eating snacks, etc. You would have thought that mom had been transported to another planet. NOTHING took her attention, no even LF, from enjoying that funnel cake! Here are the pics to prove it! (Sorry mom, had to do it!)
She even took LG's blanket to use as a (much-needed) napkin!
I wanted to caption these photos, but I thought that would add insult to injury in the simple fact that I'm evil enough to post them. I bet you can come up with some funny ones on your own!

Belly Rolls...
LG is not and has never been a fan of "belly time." We are supposed to be encouraging her to roll over and lift herself up, perhaps preparing her to crawl. She has really strong legs and her neck stays lifted, but she refuses to bring her arms in and lift up. She is able to roll completely over, but rather than lift up, she throws her leg to roll back over to wherever she came from! She has been doing a little better as she has filled out and become more motivated to reach for her favorite toys. We've also been trying to lay her on our belly, knowing that she will want to sit up to "chat." Whatever works, right?

Lilly's door swing...
Recently at a yard sale, Tom picked up this swing that hangs over the door. It is designed to be a bouncy seat. Here is a video of the first time LG tried it. I was obnoxious and couldn't leave her alone. Tom was clearly more amused by the toy that LG was! She wasn't quite sure what to do. It won't be long, though, til she goes to town in this thing!

Grandma feeds Lilly...
Mom thought she was going to get LG to LOVE eating from a spoon, since she has yet to be fond of it for us. Here she is giving that fantasy a try!
P.S. 3 weeks of this and LG is still not a fan of eating from a spoon!

Finally, a new blog post!
Okay, so I'm sorry that it's been so long since I've posted. I've got plenty of excuses...please don't make me list them. I'd never get up out of this chair, or I likely wouldn't stop crying! Stress at home with dad being ill, stress at job with too much work and Brad is still married to that Angelina chick! Need I say more?
I've got lots of new pictures and video. Will try to get them all on here soon. Until then, here's my new favorite picture of LG. Couldn't you just take a bite?
